Bali Courtyard Villa
Bali Courtyard Villa
Bali, Indonesia
215 sqm structure, 500 sqm plot
2024
This villa draws inspiration from traditional Asian courtyard residences and Balinese architecture, incorporating open spaces that center around a spacious courtyard. Reflecting Balinese design principles, the villa is composed of several pavilions arranged around the courtyard, which is enclosed by walls believed to protect against negative energy.
A subtle layer of conceptual mandalas is integrated into the layout, creating an evolving experience of the architecture as they move through the space. These mandalas are spatially completed by the occupants, aligning with the philosophy of Gestalt.
The home features two large bedrooms and a spacious office. The living room is centered by a large curved couch in the center of the space. A large chef’s kitchen provides a cooktop island and dining for six. Natural materials such as teak and lava stone dominate the design, providing warmth and texture, while accents of stainless steel offer a modern contrast. The central courtyard is the heart of the home, featuring a sunken gathering area, a hot tub, and an elongated pool that connects the various living spaces. This blend of traditional influence and modern design elements creates a harmonious, tranquil environment for its occupants.
